Day 26 Vietnam Motorbike Tour

I made it to Ho Chi Minh City in one piece. The motorbike portion of my trip is done. I have to tell you this last run was not for the faint hearted. We drove around 125 miles and as we got closer to the city the traffic was absolutely crazy. I have never swerved, shifted gears and maneuvered through traffic like this before. Once we got in the city we probably drove another 25 miles so it was quite a trek. I drove a total of 2,179 miles on my tour.

Checking in our bikes to be shipped back to Hanoi.

We pulled into the area where we checked in our bikes to be shipped back to Hanoi by train. I drank a bottle of water to calm my nerves. Once completed I took a cab and checked into the M Hotel of Siagon. (The Park Hyatt was full).

Lee departing from the M Hotel.

Since my guide had a few hours to chill out before his flight back to Hanoi, I extended him an invitation to hang at my hotel for a shower and relaxation. He then had to depart for the ariport and we said our goodbyes. It has been a great run and the sad part is I will probably never see Lee again. I am extremely lucky as we had above average temperatures, only two light days of rain and no accidents or breakdowns. I am very gratefull for his leadership and knowledge of the trip.

So I hit the streets of Saigon and ended up taking a boat ride down the Saigon River. I even found a McDonalds for lunch and it was awesome after mostly eating Vietnamese food for 24 days. It is also very hot – in the 90’s.

Beside my hotel is the Bitexco Financial Tower and guess what? It has a skydeck and bar at the top which is where I will be going tonight.

Was the tallest building in Vietnam.
View from the 52nd floor of skydeck.

I met a couple from Ireland at the top who where in the process of moving to New Zealand for a year. What a story they shared.

Lounge at the Park Hyatt Saigon.

I finished my evening in the lounge at the Park Hyatt. The piano music was very relaxing after a hectic day.
