Day 17 Vietnam Motorbike Tour

We left the party town of Hue and headed to Hoi An which I would guess was only around 80 miles. The route took us up through Hai Van Pass and we could look down upon Lang Co Town. The view was spectacuilar. We could also see the city of Da Nang in the far distance which we drove through to get to Hoi An.

View from Hai Van Pass

While at the overlook area I met a 56 year old women from New York City who was traveling by motorbike. Her name was Gina and we had quite the conversation. She has had lunch with Anthony Bourdain and had a cousin who new him well. She has traveled all over Vietnam and can’t get enough. She said her friends thinks she is crazy and so I guess I am not the only one.

We traveled through Da Nang along the shoreline. The beach looked like a Caribbean Beach. Once in Hoi An we checked into a very new and modern hotel. Then I went and got measured for a new suit. They are going to sew it partially together overnight and then tomorrow I have a 1:00 PM fitting & a 7:00 PM fitting. This particlular suit will be cut like a Hugo Boss with Canali like fabric. The lady that runs the shop works 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and knows more about suit making than anyone I have ever met. She has 10 people – some of which work in 12 hour shifts so she can run the sewing shop 24/7.

We then went down to the Center which is a shopping district like none I have ever seen. It goes on and on for what seems like miles. Good restaurants, bars and shops. The Thu Bon river flows through this area which adds to the beauty much like San Antonio river walk area.

We will be staying here for 2 nights and going to the beach tomorrow where it will be 86 degrees.

I forgot to mention in yesterdays blog – I met a couple of ladies from Kansas City while at the tunnels. It is a small world.
