A couple things I forgot to mention in yesterdays blog.
In August the area we are staying in received 39 inches of rain in 36 hours causing many mud slides on the mountains.

In addition – the conservation folks are killing out the pine trees in the region as they ruin the real landscape and add acidity to the soil. They eventually would take over due to the excellent growing weather and create a big fire hazard.
Today it was raining off and on so we chose to check out some wineries in the area. We did a tasing at the Flaxmore Vineyards and the Neudorf Vineyards.

Each had their own very interesting story of how they started.

We will be packing up for a flight to Auckland tomorrow.
