Sydney

We were picked up from the Wayfair Hotel which was very elegant. Service was impeccable. We met in the lobby and asked about where our driver would be pulling up. The gentlemen escorted us to the appropriate door and the driver pulled up at the exact time. They handled all the bags and we were off to the airport by another very nice gentlemen with a very clean car.

We were told which elevator to take up to the terminal where we were met by a very nice lady who was joking with us. These people are all so nice and the service is special. We went to our Qantas gate where we hit our first small snag Apparently the plane had an in-flight mechanical problem so they turned it around and headed back to the departure airport. Meanwhile they sent another aircraft as a replacement, so our flight is delayed by 1.5 hours to Sydney.

Not a big deal – but you just hate to waste the time. We will arrive in Sydney around 5:30 pm with a driver waiting for us at the airport.

We checked in to the Shangri-La hotel in Sydney. The view from our window shows the Sydney Opera House.

Sydney is a very modern city with busy streets.

We were searching for a dinner restaurant and settled in to one with a street side view. When preparing to leave I heard someone shout out my name. I turned around and there stood Kyle and Diane Kramp. This is a family from Kansas City. Talk about a surprise. We all attend St Therese Church together. What are the odds of us eating at the same restaurant in Sydney Austrailia?

We invited them up to the 36th floor of the Shangri-La for a drink and had a great conversation about our travels. It really is a small world.

We will be touring the Sydney Opera House today along with a lunch cruise and will be on the lookout for more neighbors. 🙂
