I started my day out walking through Hanoi. I came across this beautiful small garden area that served coffee. It was run by a lady who works as a flight attendant for Vietnam Airways. She was an expert with flower arrangements and had put her talent to work bulding this unique sanctuary. After a brief conversaton I ventured on.
I walked by the Singapore Embassy and decided to hire a motorbike driver to take me to the US Embassy. After a short and wild drive we arrived. I jumped off and was immediately greeted by a Vietnam guard who wasn’t that excited to see me and wondered what I was doing. I ask if they ever gave tours of the Embassy and his response was “no”. He asked if I had an apartment in Hanoi and made it clear I should move on so I did. (No sense of humor).
I climbed back on the motorbike and we crossed the Red River which looked like our Mississippi. The old bridge was made for a train crossing but had 4 feet on each side for motorbikes to cross. While crossing there were some slum areas that caught my eye. I asked if we could drive through this area which we did. I couldn’t believe that humans could live in such conditions. A real eye opener. After some hard core communication issues I departed from the motorbike driver and walked back to my hotel.
I met up with my friend Jack who I had met two years ago while visiting Hanoi. He has started his own tour guide company. We had drinks and shared stories and laughs. Another great day!

What an adventure! Thanks for sharing. If
