Day 1 My First Travel Blog

Seoul Airport

I made it into Seoul today celebrating my birthday mid flight as I crossed the Internatonal Date Line. Flight time was around 13 hours from Detroit. I left KC at 6:10 AM on Feb. 13th and it is now Feb. 14th at 7:30 PM in Seoul. I am now waitng on my 5 hour flight from here to Hanoi. The Seoul Incheon International Airport is the cleanest airport in the world. The bathrooms are immaculate. The helpful service is very kind and efficient.

I just had a very cool conversation with a Korean lady who I asked many questions. My main take away was – they are not scared of war and don’t even think about it. Their young people are not worred about getting married or having kids but rather living in the moment. There are many bankruptcies as many go off and start busnesses which quickly fail. Many are job hoppers – are very selfish and don’t worry about the future. They work hard for a while and then take holidays and blow their money. This is a trend I see across Asia and is a bit worrisome.

I asked about the general feelings of South Korea folks regarding our US President and lets just say it was a very short conversation.

I just made my Hanoi Hotel reservation (no need to hurry the process) and will be greeted at the airport with a car and driver ($18.00) and very nice hotel for $29.00. Got to love Vietnam.

I also reached out to my motorbike guide and let him know I am running early with a motorbike trek start time of Feb 16th. At this point, I really thought I may have a few butterflies regarding this whole trip but really feel great and ready! Wierd.

Downside – there is no bar that I can find in this airport!

Sorry about all the errors in this blog – more coming soon.
